13 May 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Category: Imprisonment Sentences \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n Breathing in Confinement: Varisheh Moradi,<\/strong> a political prisoner currently held in Evin Prison, has been sentenced to an additional six months\u2019 imprisonment in a new case by Branch 2 of the Tehran Criminal Court.<\/p>\n According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, Ms Moradi<\/strong> was convicted on charges of \u201cpropaganda against the regime\u201d by the relevant branch of the Qods Judicial Complex in Tehran, presided over by Judge Abolfazl Ameri Shahrabi, and sentenced to six months of discretionary imprisonment.<\/p>\n The report states that the sentence was issued in connection with a letter written on the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide uprising.<\/strong> In this case, Ms Moradi<\/strong> was prosecuted and convicted alongside four other female political prisoners.<\/p>\n It is noteworthy that Varisheh Moradi<\/strong> had previously been sentenced to death in another case on charges of baghi (\u201carmed rebellion\u201d) through alleged membership in the Kurdistan Free Life Party.
