16 May 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n News category: Prison sentence \u2013 Teachers<\/strong><\/p>\n Breathing in Confinement:<\/strong> The prison sentence of Amir Rahimi,<\/strong> a teacher and political prisoner, has been upheld by the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, the four-year discretionary prison sentence issued against Mr Amir Rahimi,<\/strong> a teacher, a school headteacher, and one of those arrested during the January protests, has been upheld by the Lorestan Province Court of Appeal. The ruling was communicated to his lawyer on Saturday, 16 May 2026.<\/p>\n According to the report, Mr Rahimi was arrested on 2 January<\/strong> and is currently being held in Dorud Prison. He suffers from severe disability in both legs and, due to his poor physical condition, is effectively unable to carry out his daily personal tasks.<\/strong> The prison doctor has issued an official certificate confirming his critical physical condition, which has also been approved by the judge overseeing the prison.<\/p>\n Despite this, judicial authorities have so far refused to apply legal concessions, including conditional release, suspension of sentence, or medical leave.
