20 May 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n News Group: Issuance of Death Sentence \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n Breathing in Confinement: Manouchehr Fallah,<\/strong> a political prisoner held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, has once again been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.<\/p>\n According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, following the annulment of the previous ruling and the referral of Manouchehr Fallah\u2019s case by the Supreme Court for retrial, Branch One of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ahmad Darvish-Goftar, re-examined the case and reaffirmed and reissued his death sentence in its entirety.<\/p>\n Manouchehr Fallah<\/strong>, aged 36, was arrested in Rasht on 17 June 2023. He had previously been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court on charges of \u201cenmity against God (moharebeh) through actions against national security\u201d and \u201cmembership in the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n In 2024, after the death sentence was issued, Mr Fallah<\/strong> wrote a letter from prison addressed to his daughter in which he rejected the allegations against him and stated in his defence:<\/p>\n \u201cThey have imprisoned me for a crime I did not commit. I have neither violated anyone\u2019s rights, nor looted wealth, nor taken bread from people\u2019s tables. I have neither stolen oil rigs nor sat in judgement to issue unjust rulings. My only \u2018crime\u2019 has been protesting poverty, inequality, and injustice; refusing to remain silent in the face of all this oppression.
