24 May 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n News group: Issuance of death sentences<\/strong><\/p>\n Breathing in Confinement: Milad Armon, Navid Najjaran, Mehdi Imani, and Seyed Mohammadmehdi Hosseini,<\/strong> all detained during the nationwide protests of 2022, have been sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of \u201cenmity against God\u201d (moharebeh).<\/p>\n According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, sentenced these four political prisoners to death on charges of \u201cmoharebeh.\u201d<\/p>\n In the same case, Amir Mohammad Khosh-Eghbal, Alireza Barmerz Pournak, Alireza Kafaei, and Hossein Nemati,<\/strong> the other defendants, were each sentenced to five years\u2019 imprisonment on charges of \u201cassembly and collusion against national security,\u201d and two years\u2019 imprisonment on charges of \u201cpropaganda against the state.\u201d They were also sentenced to two years\u2019 prohibition from activities in cyberspace and a two-year ban on residing in Tehran and Alborz provinces.<\/p>\n According to published reports, the verdict was communicated verbally to the defendants on 24 May 2026, without the presence or prior notification of their lawyers. Reports further indicate that, at the time of publication of this report, the formal written judgment had not yet been served on the defence lawyers.
