The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as<strong> Shahin Tafteh.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the report, <strong>Shahin Tafteh<\/strong>, a resident of Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh and the father of a young daughter, had previously been arrested on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out in the early hours of Saturday, 16 May 2026, in Rasht Prison.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No official announcement<\/strong><br \/>\nAt the time of publication, no official sources had announced the execution of this prisoner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual report on executions in Iran<\/strong><br \/>\nAccording to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners&#8217; Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public.
