{"id":7811,"date":"2026-06-13T22:36:25","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T22:36:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bciran.org\/wplocationen\/?p=7811"},"modified":"2026-06-13T22:36:25","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T22:36:25","slug":"writer-and-member-of-the-iranian-writers-association-sentenced-on-charge-of-propaganda-against-the-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bciran.org\/wplocationen\/prison-sentence\/writer-and-member-of-the-iranian-writers-association-sentenced-on-charge-of-propaganda-against-the-state","title":{"rendered":"Writer and Member of the Iranian Writers\u2019 Association Sentenced on Charge of \u201cPropaganda Against the State\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>13 June 2026<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>News Category: Prison Sentences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Breathing in Confinement:<\/strong> <strong>Yousef Ansari<\/strong>, a writer and member of the Board of Secretaries of the Iranian Writers\u2019 Association, has been sentenced to one year\u2019s imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>According to reporters for Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners&#8217; Rights League in Iran, <strong>Yousef Ansari<\/strong> was sentenced by Branch 21 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to one year of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of <strong>\u201cpropaganda against the state.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the published information, eight months of the one-year sentence have been suspended for a specified period, leaving four months to be served, unless the judgment is successfully appealed within the prescribed legal time limit or a higher judicial authority issues a different ruling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Ansari<\/strong> was arrested by security forces on 8 January 2026 after attending a memorial ceremony for <strong>Baktash Abtin<\/strong>, the late writer and member of the Iranian Writers\u2019 Association, and was subsequently transferred to Greater Tehran Prison.<\/p>\n<p>In mid-March 2026, he was granted temporary release pending the conclusion of judicial proceedings after posting bail in the amount of <strong>700 million tomans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The case has been pursued in connection with <strong>Mr Ansari\u2019s<\/strong> civil and cultural activities.
