{"id":7864,"date":"2026-06-22T18:18:56","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T18:18:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bciran.org\/wplocationen\/?p=7864"},"modified":"2026-06-22T18:18:56","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T18:18:56","slug":"javad-alikordi-sentenced-to-imprisonment-internal-exile-and-permanent-disbarment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bciran.org\/wplocationen\/prison-sentence\/javad-alikordi-sentenced-to-imprisonment-internal-exile-and-permanent-disbarment","title":{"rendered":"Javad Alikordi Sentenced to Imprisonment, Internal Exile, and Permanent Disbarment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>20 June 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>News Category: Prison Sentence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Breathing in Confinement:<\/strong> <strong>Javad Alikordi,<\/strong> a lawyer currently imprisoned in Mashhad Prison, has been sentenced on charges of \u201cassembly and collusion against national security\u201d and \u201cpropaganda against the state\u201d to a lengthy prison term, permanent disbarment from the legal profession, and internal exile.<\/p>\n<p>According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners&#8217; Rights League in Iran, Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad has convicted <strong>Mr Javad Alikordi, a lawyer and the brother of the late lawyer Khosrow Alikordi,<\/strong> on charges related to offences against national security and imposed multiple punishments.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, <strong>Mr Alikordi<\/strong> was sentenced to five years&#8217; imprisonment on the charge of \u201cassembly and collusion with the intent to act against national security\u201d and to thirteen years&#8217; imprisonment on the charge of \u201cpropaganda against the state\u201d. The court also imposed supplementary punishments, including permanent disbarment from the legal profession, a two-year ban on leaving the country, and two years of internal exile to the city of Saravan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.<\/p>\n<p>In total, he has been sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment. However, the manner in which the sentence will be enforced will be subject to the legal provisions governing multiple offences.<\/p>\n<p>It is noteworthy that in December 2025, the body of his brother, <strong>Khosrow Alikordi<\/strong>, a lawyer and human rights advocate who represented political cases and the families of individuals killed during protests, was discovered under suspicious circumstances at his workplace in Mashhad.<\/p>\n<p>Following the memorial ceremony marking the <strong>seventh day after Khosrow Alikordi\u2019s death<\/strong> and the subsequent mass arrests of attendees, <strong>Javad Alikordi<\/strong> released a video warning about the continued detention of those arrested. He stated that unless the detainees were released, he would publish confidential documents and materials.
