Golrokh Ebrahimi

Prison
Qarchak Varamin, Evin
Status
Imprisoned

Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee was arrested at her home on 9 November 2019 and transferred to Qarchak Varamin prison to serve her sentence. Ms. Iraee had previously, while serving her earlier sentence in the women’s ward of Evin prison, faced a new case together with Atena Daemi, and was ultimately sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 3 years and 7 months’ discretionary imprisonment. The court also sentenced each of the two to a 2-year ban on membership in groups and parties. This sentence was later upheld on appeal without a hearing and communicated to them. Under the sentence, applying Article 134, 2 years and 1 month of this imprisonment is enforceable for each of them.

Ms. Iraee, who had been serving her prison sentence since 25 October 2016 for civil activities at Evin prison, was released on 8 April 2019 upon completing the term of her previous case, with bail posted for the new one.

Arash Sadeghi, her husband, has been held at Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj since 8 June 2016. He had previously been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court to 15 years in prison, which, combined with his earlier 4-year suspended sentence, increased to 19 years. If Article 134 (aggregation of sentences) is applied, this term would be reduced to 11 years and 6 months; nevertheless, there is still no sign of this article being applied in his case.

Since the time of Ms. Iraee’s arrest, this couple has been deprived of the right to visit or speak by phone with each other.
