Death Sentence Issued for Political Prisoner Arghavan Fallahi, Held in Evin Prison

Breathing in Confinement: Arghavan Fallahi, a 25-year-old political prisoner detained in Evin Prison, has been sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Fazlollah Salavati.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Arghavan Fallahi was arrested in February 2025 in the city of Parand and transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. During the interrogation period, she was held in solitary confinement for approximately five months and was subjected to severe psychological and physical pressure.

The Tehran Revolutionary Court stated that the charges brought against Arghavan Fallahi included “propaganda activities against the state” and “support for the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK)”, and issued a death sentence on that basis.

It is noteworthy that Arghavan Fallahi had previously been arrested in November 2022 in the city of Shiraz, together with her father, due to her political activities.
