Mehdi Ahangari Executed in Malayer Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Monday, 28 September 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death, was carried out in Malayer Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Malayer Prison in the early hours of Monday, 28 September. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Mehdi Ahangari.
According to the report, Mehdi Ahangari, a resident of Malayer, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary. His death sentence was carried out at dawn on Monday, 28 September 2026, in Malayer Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 2,616 people were executed in Iran during the Iranian year 1404. Of these, 12 were executed in public. The executions also included 67 women and eight juvenile offenders.
