Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of Wednesday, November 3, 2021, a prisoner arrested on murder charges was executed in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the morning of Wednesday, November 3, 2021, a prisoner who was arrested five years ago on murder charges was executed in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. The prisoner was identified by “Breathing in Confinement” as Manuchehr (Shahab) Kazemi Varmaleh. Manuchehr from Harsin, was 33 years old and married.
According to an informed source, Manuchehr Kazemi committed an unintentional murder in 2015, to help and defend his brother-in-law.
As of this writing, the execution has not been announced by the state media.
According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 316 prisoners were executed in the past year (October 10, 2020 – October 10, 2021), 85% of which were carried out in secret.
