Breathing in Confinement: On Monday morning, September 28, father of the political prisoner Amir Hossein Moradi sentenced to death, died by suicide.

Amir Hossein Moradi is one of the protesters who were arrested after the nationwide protests in November 2019. Amir Hossein has been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

Mr. Moradi’s suicide has reportedly been caused by “excessive psychological pressure”, “uncertain situation” and “concern over his son being executed”.

Amir Hossein Moradi’s mother told the Emtedad news agency that they had found Mr. Moradi’s body “in the basement” and that he “talked about his son until the last moment of his life, wishing a day they all sit again at the same table.”

According to the report, “security forces presented in the house and a number of state TV reporters had been staying in the yard for several hours, seeking an interview.”

Amir Hossein Moradi and two other protesters, Saeed Tamjidi and Mohammad Rajabi were arrested and sentenced to death during the November 2019 nationwide protests. However, following a widespread protest campaign on social media demanding their execution to be stopped, the three prisoners’ death sentences were suspended despite having been upheld by the Supreme Court as the retrial was agreed by the Supreme Court.
