Massive rallies in Tabriz in support of the protests in Khuzestan despite the heavy presence of security forces; Mobile internet was cut off, dozens were arrested

Breathing in Confinement: On Saturday, July 24, 2021, the people of Tabriz rallied in support of the protests in Khuzestan. Despite the heavy presence of security forces and counter-insurgency guards in the streets,  massive rallies was held.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Saturday, July 24, 2021, concurrently with the tenth day of the protests in Khuzestan, the people of Tabriz gathered in support of the uprisings in Khuzestan against the water crisis. The rally turned violent by security agents and counterinsurgency forces.

Security forces used drones to control the rallies. The gatherings were attacked by motorcyclist police forces chasing and beating the protesters.

 

According to ” Breathing in Confinement”, electricity power was cut off after 5:00 pm in most areas of Tabriz. Several protesters were also detained by security agents, said an eyewitness in Saat Square. The number and identities of detainees are under investigation by Breathing in Confinement.

 

 

 

 

The people of Tabriz chanted slogans in support of the uprisings in Khuzestan:

“Azerbaijan is awake and stands by the protesters in Khuzestan. ”

“Azarbaijan! Ahvaz! Solidarity, Solidarity!”

“Never never abasement”

“We the soldiers of ‘Babak’ are ready to die.”
