Breathing in Confinement: Despite the widespread and violent repression and arrests, the protests are ongoing. In recent days, two citizens were arrested in Yazd and Tehran and taken to unknown locations.

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two protesters were recently arrested in Tehran and Yazd.

The detainees have been identified as: Banafsheh Kamali, graduated in Persian literature at Yazd University, and Marzieh Lorestani, a 36-year-old employee.

Ms. Marzieh Lorestani was arrested at her home on the morning of Thursday, September 22, and was taken to an unknown location.

Nationwide protests against the killing of Mehsa Amini, a 22-year-old girl, by the so called “moral police patrol” began on September 16 in Tehran and have been going on for 9 days in most major cities, including Isfahan, Tabriz, Tehran, Yazd, Sanandaj, Mashhad, Ahvaz and Zahedan.

The security forces have shutdown the Internet in Iran to prevent the spread of protests.

The very severe and violent suppression of protesters, beatings, arrests, and transferring the detainees to unknown location have raised serious concerns.
