Two Justice Seeking Mothers of the Victims of the November 2019 Uprising Sentenced to Prison

Breathing in Confinement:: Mahboubeh Ramazani and Rahimeh Yousefzadeh, justice seeking mothers of the victims of the November 2019 uprising, have been sentenced to prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Mahboubeh Ramazani, mother of Pejman Gholipour, and Rahimeh Yousefzadeh, mother of Navid Behboudi, both victims of the November 2019 uprising, have been sentenced to 18 months and one day in prison by Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Shahriar.

Reza Shafakhah, their lawyer, announced that Mahboubeh Ramazani and Rahimeh Yousefzadeh were sentenced to 6 months in prison for the charge of “membership in the Justice Seeking Mothers group,” another 6 months for “propaganda against the regime,” and 6 months and one day for “insulting the Supreme Leader.” The total sentence for each mother amounts to 18 months and one day.

The court session addressing the charges against Mahboubeh Ramazani and Rahimeh Yousefzadeh was held in the same judicial branch in January of last year. Mahboubeh Ramazani, mother of Pejman Gholipour, and Rahimeh Yousefzadeh, mother of Navid Behboudi, were previously arrested while seeking justice for the killing of their sons during the November 2019 protests.
