Behnam Ebrahimzadeh Transferred to Ward 2 on Day 25 of Hunger Strike

Breathing in Confinement – Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, imprisoned labour activist was transferred to ward 2 of Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, this member of the “Committee to Establish Independent Labor Trades”, who has gone on hunger strike since 3rd December to protest against being transferred to ward 1 from ward 12 in Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, was transferred to ward 2, the so called “Dar AL Quran” on 27th December.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh has been transferred to prison clinic many times due to weakness and faint.

That is to say, the prison officials had promised last week that he will be transferred to the political prisoners’ ward, but did not keep their promise and transferred him to ward 2.

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, labour activist who was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court on charge of “gathering and collusion to act against the national security” is serving the fourth year of his sentence.

He was arrested by security forces on 12 June 2010 and first he was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court, but, his sentence was reduced to 5 years imprisonment by the appeal court.
