Execution of three prisoners in Hamedan prison

Breathing in Confinement: Three prisoners who had previously been sentenced to death by Hamadan Criminal Court on rape charges, were executed in the last week.

 

According to Hamshahri, three prisoners who had been arrested for rape, were executed in Hamadan prison last week.

As per the report, when a young girl submitted a complaint against a man and two of his friends for raping her, and given the existent evidence, the three were arrested and were sentenced to death. The Supreme Court also upheld the sentences and the three young prisoners were executed in Hamadan prison last week.

 

It is noteworthy that Iran has the highest execution rate in the world per capita. According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the first six months of 2020, the authorities of the Islamic Republic executed at least 114 prisoners without a transparent trial.
