Three months prison sentence for the environmental activist, Yousef Farhadi Babadi

Breathing in Confinement: Yousef Farhadi Babadi, an environmental activist and a member of the “Sounds of Flowing Water” Campaign, was sentenced to three months in prison with a two-year suspension.

Yousef Farhadi Babadi, an environmental activist from Shahr-e-Kord and one of the protesters against the water transfer project from Karun river, wrote on his Twitter account that the Branch 1 of Shahr-e-Kord Revolutionary Court had convicted him for his environmental activities. He has been sentenced to three months suspended imprisonment for “propaganda activities against the regime”.

 

Mr. Babadi stated on his tweet that he was going to protest against the sentence.

 

Yousef Farhadi Babadi had been arrested on Sunday, February 17, 2019, and one month later, on March 18, 2019, had been temporarily released on bail.
