Release of the political prisoner, Arash Sadeghi from Rajaei Shahr prison in Karaj

Breathing in Confinement: Arash Sadeghi, a political prisoner who was being held in Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj, was released on May 1, 2021.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Arash Sadeghi, who last time was arrested in 2016 and was serving his prison sentence, was released from Rajaei Shahr Prison on May 1, 2021, after the enforcement of the law on reducing prison sentences.

Mr. Sadeghi had been transferred to Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj in October 2017. While in prison, he developed a type of bone cancer named chondrosarcoma, for which he underwent surgery. However, he was denied proper medical care and treatment which caused him many physical problems, especially at the site of his surgery.
