Arrest of a mother and son, 2 Baha’i citizens living in Shiraz

Breathing in Confinement: Hayedeh Forootan and her son, Mehran Mosallanejad, two Baha’i citizens living in Shiraz, were arrested on September 23, 2021, after appearing at the City’s Police Department. On Wednesday, September 22,  before their arrest, the intelligence agents raided their home and confiscated some of their personal belongings.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on September 23, 2021, two Baha’i citizens living in Shiraz, named Hayedeh Forootan and her son Mehran Mosallanejad, were arrested after appearing at the City’s Police Department.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, when the Ministry of Intelligence agents searched Ms. Forootan’s home, she was not at home and therefore, they were unable to arrest her . Thus she was summoned to appear at the Police Department on September 23, along with her son.

It should be noted that Ms. Forootan’s home had previously also been searched by security forces on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

In recent days, two other Baha’i citizens living in Shiraz have also been detained by security forces.
