Babak Kiomarsi receives a two-year prison sentence

Breathing in Confinement: Babak Kiomarsi, a civil activist living in Jolfa, was sentenced to two years in prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Tabriz, headed by Judge Fatah Nejad, sentenced Babak Kiomarsi to two years in prison, reducing his detention period.

Babak Kiomarsi, along with Saeed Soltani,  residents of Jolfa, had been arrested by security agents on October 4, 2020, at their workplace. Concurrently with their arrest, the intelligence agents searched their homes and took their mobile phones, laptops and other personal belongings.

On December 3, 2020, after spending one month in detention, while there was no information about their condition, each of them was temporarily released from Tabriz Central Prison on 500 million Tomans bail awaiting the court’s decision.
