Hunger strike of 47 political prisoners in Urmia Prison is ongoing

Breathing in Confinement: Since Sunday, December 12, forty-seven political prisoners in Urmia Prison have been on hunger strike.

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, since Sunday, December 12, 47 political prisoners in Urmia Prison have been on a hunger strike. The hunger strike was held in protest of the order of head of the prison to transfer the prisoners to another ward which its condition has been described as very poor, with insufficient facilities and space.

Political prisoners have stated that they will continue their hunger strike until the prison authorities officially announce that they have stopped the transfer of prisoners.
