Breathing in Confinement: On April 21, 2022, four prisoners were secretly executed in Dastgerd prison in Isfahan. One of the prisoners had been charged with “drug related offences”.
According to the Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Thursday, April 21, 2022, the death sentences of four prisoners were secretly carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
One of the prisoners has been identified by the “Breathing in Confinement” as Ahmad Tavakoli, 33.
According to the “Breathing in Confinement”, the prisoner was held in Dastgerd prison in Isfahan for three and a half years.
“Ahmad Tavakoli was 33 years old and had just been engaged. He had no criminal record and had been arrested for the first time,” a source said to the reporter of the Breathing in Confinement.
Ahmad had been in prison for three and a half years and had no family visits since two years. He was not even given the chance of the last visit to his family.
The three other prisoners who were concurrently executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan are yet to be identified.
According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, from March 20, 2021 – March 20, 2022, at least 383 prisoners were executed in various prisons in Iran of which only 34 were reported by the state media and the rest were carried out in secret.
