Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Thursday, October 31, 2024, the execution of a prisoner convicted of murder was carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least one prisoner was executed at dawn on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in Isfahan Prison. The identity of the prisoner, Reza (Doqoli) Beidabadi, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.

According to a report from Breathing in Confinement, Reza Beidabadi had previously been arrested on charges of murder and sentenced to death. He was transferred to solitary confinement on Tuesday, October 29, in preparation for the execution, which was carried out at dawn on Thursday, October 31, in Isfahan Prison.

As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner  has not been announced by official resources.

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
