Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of Monday, December 9, 2024, the death sentence of a prisoner previously convicted of “murder” was carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the execution took place in Isfahan Central Prison. The identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed as Morteza Ghasemi by Breathing in Confinement.

Based on information from Breathing in Confinement reporter, Morteza Ghasemi, a resident of Zeinabiyeh, Isfahan, was born in 1988. He was arrested 12 years ago on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out early this morning, Monday, December 9, in Dastgerd Prison. Breathing in Confinement had previously reported on Ghasemi’s transfer to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution.
