Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had been arrested on drug-related charges was carried out in Shiraz Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Sunday, 5 October 2025, a prisoner was hanged in Shiraz Prison. The prisoner’s identity, Jahanbakhsh Rakhshani, has been verified by Breathing in Confinement.

Jahanbakhsh Rakhshani, a Baluch citizen, had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. His sentence was carried out at dawn on Sunday, 5 October 2025, in Shiraz Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
