At Least 14 Adolescents Arrested by Security Forces in Multiple Cities

Breathing in Confinement — At least 14 adolescents have been arrested by security forces in the cities of Ilam, Dehloran, Sarableh, Karzan, and Badreh.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, amid nationwide protests across various parts of the country and widespread arrests of protesters, multiple cases of the detention of children and adolescents have been documented.

Based on this report, on Sunday, 4 January 2026, Amin Yousefi and Amirhossein Ta’mirkari were arrested in Ilam. On Monday, 5 January 2026, security forces arrested Reza Doustinejad and Artin Sohrabi, a 17-year-old adolescent, in the same city. Additionally, on the evening of Sunday, 4 January 2026, Amirali Abdian (16 years old), Firouz Faraji, and Mohammad Sadra Mansouri were arrested by security forces during a raid on Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ilam.

In Dehloran and surrounding areas, on Sunday, 4 January 2026, Alireza Pariyab was arrested in Dehloran; Mohammadamin Mahmoudian and Mohammadhossein Moradi in Sarableh; and Ahmadreza Mohammadian in Karzan. On Monday, 5 January 2026, Arman Dadfar was arrested in Badreh, while twin brothers Milad and Mithagh Seyedmoradi were arrested in Dehloran by security forces.

These arrests, which include children and adolescents, raise serious human-rights concerns and are incompatible with international standards for the protection of children’s rights, including the prohibition of detaining children solely for participation in peaceful protests.
