Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder has been carried out in Bojnord Prison.

According to reporters for Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Bojnord Prison in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 June 2026. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Bahaeddin Vahidi.

According to the report, Bahaeddin Vahidi, a Turkmen citizen from Jargalan, was arrested six years ago on charges of murder and was subsequently sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 June 2026, in Bojnord Prison.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
