Execution of a Prisoner in Qezel Hesar Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Wednesday, 19 August 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Qezel Hesar Prison at dawn today, Wednesday, 19 August. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Davoud Siah Mansouri.
According to the report, Davoud Siah Mansouri had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death by the judiciary. He had been transferred to solitary confinement approximately one month ago in preparation for his execution; however, the execution was halted and he was granted a temporary reprieve.
On Tuesday, 18 August, he was again transferred from Unit 3 of Qezel Hesar Prison to solitary confinement in preparation for the implementation of his sentence. His death sentence was ultimately carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, in Qezel Hesar Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 2,616 people were executed in Iran during the Iranian year 1404. Of these, 12 were executed in public. The executions also included 67 women and eight juvenile offenders.
