Execution of a Prisoner in Rasht Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Wednesday, 2 September 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death, was carried out in Rasht Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Rasht Prison at dawn on Tuesday, 1 September. Breathing in Confinement has confirmed the prisoner’s identity as Mojtaba Salahi Laghani.
According to the report, Mojtaba Salahi Laghani, from Laghan in Shaft County, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death by the judiciary. His death sentence was carried out at dawn on Tuesday, 1 September, in Rasht Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 2,616 people were executed in Iran during the Iranian year 1404. Of these, 12 were executed in public. The executions also included 67 women and eight juvenile offenders.
