A prisoner saved from execution in Golestan

Breathing in Confinement October 18, 2020

Breathing in Confinement: Being pardoned by the victim’s mother, a 20-year-old prisoner in Golestan Province was spared from execution.

According to Rokna News Agency, quoting Hadi Hashemian, Chief Justice of Golestan Province, 5 years ago in a fight over a pigeon between 2 cousins, one of them was killed. The killer immediately reported himself to the police and was later sentenced to retribution. On the day of the execution, however, the victim’s mother forgave her nephew without any preconditions.

Notably, the attributed crime was committed at the age of 15 and if the victim’s mother had not pardoned her 20-year-old nephew, for a childish fight over a pigeon, he would have been added to the list of executed children in Iran.
