Breathing in Confinement: On Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the end of the deadline stated in her summon, Shadi Gilak, the civil activist and wife of political prisoner Arash Johari was arrested at the Sentence Implementation Unit and transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence.

 

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, Shadi Gilak was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence. She had previously been sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Afshari, to one year in prison on charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

 

The labor activist Arash Johari, Ms. Gilak’s wife, has also been sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison and is currently being held in Evin Prison. Earlier, his mother had reported that her family had been harassed by security forces.
