According to a report from Breathing in Confinement, Ahmad Salari, a resident of Jiroft, was arrested two years ago on charges of murdering an individual named Soleimani and subsequently sentenced to death. Ahmad Salari’s family was unable to secure a pardon from the victim’s family, and the case was referred to the execution implementation Department. On Tuesday, October 29, Ahmad Salari was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for the execution, which was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, October 30, in Jiroft Prison.

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
