At Least One Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison for Execution

Breathing in Confinement – Sunday, 25 May 2025 – At least one prisoner who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges related to drug offences has been transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, in preparation for the execution of the sentence.

According to the reporter for Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner in Ghezel Hesar Prison has been moved to solitary confinement ahead of execution. The prisoner has been identified as Rahim Amiri by Breathing in Confinement.

Rahim Amiri was arrested five years ago on charges related to drug offences and was subsequently sentenced to death.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
