Execution of a Prisoner in Jiroft Prison

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged at dawn on Wednesday, July 22, in Jiroft Prison. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Ali Ahmad Yousefi.
According to the report, Ali Ahmad Yousefi, originally from the village of Chah Morad in Kahnuj and a resident of Jiroft, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary. His sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Jiroft Prison.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran.
