Breathing in Confinement, Thursday, 3 September 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death, was carried out in Mashhad Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Mashhad Prison at dawn yesterday, Wednesday, 2 September. Breathing in Confinement has confirmed the prisoner’s identity as Omid Rakhshani.

According to the report, Omid Rakhshani, from Mashhad, had previously been arrested on a charge of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to death by the judiciary. His death sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, in Mashhad Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
