Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Saturday, March 1, 2025, the execution of at least one prisoner who had been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Amol Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed in Amol Prison on the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2025. The identity of the prisoner, Arsalan Pasha, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
Based on reports received by Breathing in Confinement, Arsalan Pasha was arrested in 2021 on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. His family was unable to obtain the consent of the victim’s family to stop the execution, and the sentence was carried out at dawn on Saturday, March 1, in Amol Central Prison.
As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by official resources.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
