Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Monday, January 20, 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “murder,” was carried out in Chubin Dar Prison in Qazvin.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League of Iran, a prisoner was executed in Qazvin Prison early Monday morning on charges of “murder.” The identity of this prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Ehsan Heydarali.
As reported by a correspondent from Breathing in Confinement, Ehsan Heydarali, the son of Asghar and a resident of Qazvin, had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “murder.” The sentence was carried out at dawn on Monday, January 20, in the central prison of Qazvin.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
