Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least four prisoners who had been arrested and convicted on charges of “murder” were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, four prisoners were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identity of one of them, Zakaria Mohammad Khanlou, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement, while the identities of the others are still under investigation.

Zakaria Mohammad Khanlou, 39, a resident of Tehranpars, had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. His sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, in Ghezel Hesar Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
