Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner convicted on drug-related charges was carried out in Arak Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, at dawn on Saturday, 18 October 2025, a prisoner was hanged in Arak Prison. The prisoner’s identity, Mehdi Hamze’i, has been verified.

Mehdi Hamze’i, from Arak, had previously been arrested on drug-related charges, including transporting 148 grams of heroin, and was sentenced to death. His sentence was carried out at dawn on 18 October 2025 in Arak Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
