Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Tuesday, December 3, the death sentences of at least two prisoners, previously arrested and convicted on drug related charges were carried out in Tabriz Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the executions took place at dawn on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. The identities of the two prisoners are under investigation by Breathing in Confinement.
Based on information provided by Breathing in Confinement reporter, the two prisoners had been previously arrested and sentenced to death on charges related to “drug offenses.”

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
