Imprisoned Women’s Weekly Visit with Their Children Canceled

Breathing in Confinement – The weekly prison visit of imprisoned women in Evin prison with their children has been terminated.

According to the reports obtained by Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran (PRLI), the prisoners of women’s ward of Evin prison have been informed on August 19, 2019 that their weekly visits with their children will not take place anymore.

So far they were allowed to meet their children every Wednesday.

Maryam Akbari Monfared, Narges Mohammadi, Nazanin Zaghari, Zahra Zehtabchi, Fatemeh Mosanna, Masoume Asgari, Asrin Darkale, Maryam Mohammadi, Azita Rafizade and Nasrin Sotude are the mothers who have been imprisoned in Evin prison.

According to this report, Abdolhamidi, the head of the women’s ward has informed the prisoners of this new decision but has said nothing about the source of this order.

Also, the family visits of the women’s ward which used to take place every two weeks will be monthly from now on.
