Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement for Execution in Kahnooj Prison

Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner who had been arrested on the charge of “murder” and sentenced to death has been transferred to solitary confinement in Kahnooj Prison in preparation for the execution.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Sunday, 14 September 2025, a prisoner in Kahnooj Prison was moved to solitary confinement to await execution. The identity of this prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement but is being withheld.

The prisoner had previously been arrested on the charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. At the time of reporting, efforts to obtain consent from the victim’s family were still ongoing.

 

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
