Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner who had been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death has been transferred to solitary confinement in Isfahan Central Prison in preparation for the implementation of his sentence.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, a prisoner in Isfahan Central Prison was moved to solitary confinement ahead of execution. His identity has been confirmed by this human rights organisation as Mohammadreza Goshoul.

Mohammadreza Goshoul had been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. His family and friends continue their efforts to obtain consent from the victim’s relatives.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
