Breathing in Confinement, Monday, 10 August 2026: The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death was carried out in Dezful Prison.

According to reporters from *Breathing in Confinement*, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Dezful Prison at dawn on Sunday, 15 February 2026. The prisoner has been identified by *Breathing in Confinement* as Ehsan Shahavand.

According to the report, Ehsan Shahavand, a resident of the Alvar Garmsiri District of Andimeshk County, had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death by the judiciary. Due to the widespread internet shutdown imposed following the nationwide protests in January, information about the implementation of his death sentence could not be reported at the time it took place.

His death sentence was carried out at dawn on Sunday, 15 February 2026, in Dezful Prison.
