Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offences and sentenced to death by judicial authorities, has been carried out in Isfahan Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed in Isfahan Prison in mid-April 2026. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Amirhossein Mohammadalipour.

According to the report, Amirhossein Mohammadalipour had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offences and was sentenced to death by the judiciary. Due to communication restrictions and internet disruptions during the relevant period, reporting on the execution of this prisoner was delayed, and the exact date of the execution remains unknown at the time of publication. Amirhossein Mohammadalipour’s death sentence was carried out in Isfahan Prison in mid-April 2026.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
