Sepideh Kashani was transferred to the female political prisoners’ ward of Evin prison

Breathing in Confinement – Last week, after spending 650 days in high-Security ward 209 at Evin prison, Sepideh Kashani, an environmental activist, was transferred to female political prisoners’ ward.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of  Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran,  an environmental activist, Sepideh Kashani, along with 7 of her colleagues was being held for more than 650 days at ward 209 of  Evin Prison.  Last Sunday however, she was transferred to the female political prisoners’ ward at Evin Prison.

On November 20, 2019, after about 20 months of being under temporary detention, a preliminary injunction issued by the Revolutionary Court was presented to the environmental activists in prison. Sepideh Kashani is accordingly convicted to serve a prison term of six years.

It is noteworthy that the environmental activists, Morad Tahbaz, Sam Rajabi, Amir Hossein Khaleghi, Hooman Jokar, Sepideh Kashani, Niloufar Bayani, Taher Ghadirian and Abdolreza Koohpayeh, have been under detention in Evin prison for more than  20 months.
