Several Sunni Arab Citizens Arrested Following Security Forces’ Raid on a Home in Ahvaz

Breathing in Confinement, Monday, 7 September 2026: Several Sunni Arab citizens were arrested and transferred to an unknown location following a raid by security forces on a gathering in the Koye Mashali neighbourhood of Ahvaz.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Friday, 4 September, security forces of the Islamic Republic went to the home of a resident in Koye Mashali, Ahvaz, and surrounded the location where more than 10 Sunni Arab citizens had gathered.
According to published reports, intelligence agents entered the home, assaulted those present and arrested a number of them. The detainees were subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.
So far, the identities of three of those arrested have been confirmed as Razi Heydari, 50, son of Oryoush; Hossein Heydari, 29, son of Razi; and Abdolali Asakereh, 30.
Several days after their arrests, no precise information has yet been released regarding the reasons for their detention, the charges brought against them, the status of their cases, or their place of detention. The lack of information about the detainees’ fate has heightened concern among their families and relatives.
