Breathing in Confinement – Zaniar and Loghman Moradi, political prisoners of Rajai Shahr Prison were tried again this morning.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, the Kurdish political prisoners were tried in the Criminal Court of Karaj at the presence of their lawyer.

An informed source who wanted to remain unknown told “Breathing in Confinement”: “Their lawyer, Mr. Nikbakht, insisted on the innocence of Zaniar and Loghman Moradi.”

“Mr. Nikbakht told the judges that he can introduce 4 witnesses to prove the innocence of Zaniar and Loghman, however one of the judges told him that these cases are based on Presumption of innocence and the prosecutor has to prove that the inmates are guilty.” The source stated.

Zaniar and Loghman Moradi had been arrested in 2009 on charge of killing the son of the Imam of Marivan city. The have rejected the allegation several times.

They have been also accused of “Espionage for the British Government” and sentenced to death by the branch 15 of the revolutionary court of Tehran.

The death sentences had been confirmed by the Supreme Court and was supposed to be carried out, however under the pressure of human rights organizations the case was sent to the criminal court to be processed again.
