Thirteen Political Prisoners transferred from Ghezel Gesar Prison’s High Security Ward to Unit 4

Breathing in Confinement: On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, thirteen political prisoners who had previously been transferred from Evin Prison to the high security ward of Ghezel Hesar Prison, were moved to Unit 4 of this Prison.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, thirteen political prisoners detained in the high security ward of Ghezel Hesar Prison were transferred to Unit 4 of this prison.

The thirteen political prisoners are Loghman Aminpour, Saeed Masouri, Afshin Baymani, Sepehr Imam Jomeh, Zartosht Ahmadi Ragheb, Mohammad Shafi’i, Saman Seidi (Yasin), Hamzeh Savari, Kamiar Fakoor, Ahmad Reza Ha’eri, Reza Salmanzadeh, Jafar Ebrahimi, and Masoud Reza Ebrahimi Nezhad, who had been previously moved from Evin Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison.

A well-informed source close to the family of one of these prisoners told the reporter of “Breathing in Confinement,”: “All thirteen political prisoners who were being held in extremely inhumane conditions in the high security ward of Ghezel Hesar Prison have been transferred to Unit 4 of this prison.”

In recent days, following the transfer of these thirteen prisoners from Evin Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison, extensive protests were expressed regarding their detention conditions. According to reports received by “Breathing in Confinement,” these prisoners were held in solitary confinement cells in the high security ward of Ghezel Hesar Prison where the prisoners convicted of serious crimes are held. They were deprived of even the most basic amenities.
